New York was major center of the hops production until in the early 1900's when a series of events unfolded crushing the industry. From wild market fluctuations, to powdery mildew, to a season that saw a record hop aphid attack on the crop across New York hops production was abandoned for more stable products. Now in a resurgence owing to local brewing we're starting to see commercial hops again find its place in agricultural output of our region.
